The Perks of Quirks

Love, Funny Quotes, Couples

“We’re all a little weird. And life is weird. And when we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours, we join up with them and fall into mutual weirdness and call it love.” – Dr. Seuss

Dr. Seuss was one smart cookie! We are all a little bit weird (some more than others), but it’s when we find people that can match our weirdness that magic happens. And I’m fortunate to have an abundance of magic in my life supplied by a genuine collection of oddballs. (You know who you are.) They keep me sane, understand my quirks, and are not phased by the randomness of my words or actions. For this, I love them.

The oddball who deserves the ultimate prize for putting up with all my shenanigans is my poor manfriend, Troy. And the ultimate prize just may include plenty of more days and nights with me! Total win, I know. It’s the prize that keeps on giving.

Anyways, Troy is truly a trooper for putting up with all my random thoughts that manifest as we are trying to sleep, via text message, and/or randomly in conversation. He never misses a beat and simply keeps on trekking. Hell, sometimes he even comes out with a little randomness of his own.

Lucky for you I have the memory of an elephant, so here are a few of my favs:

Me:I have a lot of gaps in my schedule today.
Troy: Sounded like you said you have a lot of gas in your schedule today.

There’s nothing like scheduled gas.

Me: How do you want to pay for this?
Troy: Well, I thought I would bring them a chicken and a bag of hay. That should do it

Laying in bed last night (in complete silence) trying to sleep:
Me: Why did the dad from Full House have TWO people move in to help raise the kids. Wouldn’t just one have been enough?
Troy: Because he had such a big house and had to be gone a lot.

We hadn’t even talked about Full House at all that day!

Random Texts:

The time he was at a wardrobe fitting to be an extra:
Troy: I look like a Weasley hobo
Me: Isn’t that just a Weasley?

Random texting in the afternoon:
Me: I don’t ever want to have 19 kids.
Troy: Ok. 18 will be fine.
Me: Ok. Just so we’re clear.

And that ladies and gentlemen is why we work. Who understands your weird quirks the best? Or puts up with them the most?

My husband puts up with some weird behaviour from me (mainly singing alll the time) but then he does delightful things like washing his peen in freezing cold water then slapping it on the back of my neck. Hahaha!

Both my husband and some of my friends put up with my weird quirks.

Early one morning I woke up and didn’t want to go to work, so sang a 15 minute song about if I was a hedgehog I wouldn’t have to go to work, poor Mr R had barely woken up and I was already on full speed High Energy Broadway Mode. He had no escape that day either, because we both worked in the same place. I emailed him lots of Hedgehog facts.

Haha. I love it! We should all be hedgehogs so that we don’t have to work! I’m sure Mr. R was very entertained. :)

My little sister recently said that she thinks the reason my husband and I are good together is that we’re both quirky–in some ways the same and in some ways totally different, but we just fit well. And quirks sure make life fun, and it’s fun to be with people who appreciate them!

Yay! I’m glad that you and your husband are able to appreciate each other’s quirks. It’s so much fun when you can just be yourself around the person you are with. And it definitely makes for some interesting stories!
